Frankfurt Book Fair is held once a year in Frankfurt, Germany. The 68th Frankfurt book exhibition will take place from October 19 to 23, 2016. Established in1949, Frankfurt International Book Fair is the world’s largest book exhibition.
When the doors open for the general public, the fair ground transforms in kind of a big festival area with the help of the splendid weather. The exhibition halls are usually very crowded, but you can still go strolling around the bookstalls, and besides books, one can also spot celebrities.
Over 7,000 exhibitors from around the world will use this year’s Frankfurt book fair to present their work. Around 290,000 visitors, over 4,000 events and approximately 10,000 accredited journalists – including 2,000 bloggers - will meet each other on this event. Publishers, literary agents, booksellers and readers will gain from this experience. Across a total of 174.000 m2, 76,600 exhibitors will present more than 380,000 books and electronic products from more than 100 participating countries.
This fair is a meeting place for the industry’s experts and the most important marketplace for books, media, rights and licenses worldwide. Each year in October, people come together for a new and innovative experience - book sellers, publishers, rights managers, authors, editors, librarians. It also gathers key players from other media, including the film and games industries.
An annual Guest of Honour country, which showcases its book market, literature and culture to attendees in a variety of ways, has been featured since 1976 in the Book Fair. Flanders & the Netherlands together will be the Guest of Honour in this year’s event. Their slogan is “Dit is wat we delen” (“This is what we share”). They will present not just novels, poetry and nonfiction, but also new forms that have emerged from the creative industry, book arts and other artistic fields.
The Frankfurt Book Fair offers essential services and an ideal setting for the activities of publishers, experts, pioneers, entrepreneurs and visionaries with all the different languages and cultures present at one spot.
Grow your business, grow your professional skills, build bridges, expand your network and make new discoveries: digital content, the vibrant publishing landscape and interesting information about the most important markets from all over the world. Whether you come to the fair as a professional visitor or exhibitor – one thing is certain: at the Frankfurt Book Fair you will have more access to current trends than anywhere else.
